Fly
I am the wind in the costume of the earth
In a world where clowns cry
And baby’s laugh at birth.
Separated from life but still breathing
Numb to reality, denial of feeling.
With paths as dark as blood in the moonlight
I carried the weight of my sadness in tears and
used flames of self loathing to light my way
I peeped through alleys of pills and rows of
knives
Journeys that seemed so cliché and unyieldingly
vile.
Standstill traffic on a highway of progress
And I can’t even drive.
Closed doors and latched windows
And all I have to do is dive.
Ripper stood beside egging me on, draining each
breath
And I took the step he needed to aid in fulfilling
his ongoing debt.
I was the wind, in the costume of the earth
In a world where clowns cried
And baby’s laughed at birth.
And he, he inhaled the wind that carried my
wings
And smiled joyously as he watched me fall.
