One night, at work, my patients’ son walked by the nurses station and saw that I was reading a self-help book (The 80/20 Principle). When I went to tend to his father, he drummed up an hour long discussion about Gaia, manifestation, the law of attraction and a few theories of our own. That conversation sparked the development of an idea mentioned in Jack Canfield’s, The Success Principles. When I got home, I would host a manifestation party!
I made this flyer (with address, date and time) and sent it to about 9 friends, the key instruction, come as yourself 5 years from now.
I asked everyone to bring their flyers, business cards, book if they’d written one, the keys to their dream car. It was to be a night that we fully immersed ourselves in the lives we envisioned for ourselves.
I was so worried it would be weird or hard to get into, so I made an effort to keep it small (mostly because I wrongly assumed a lot of my friends wouldn’t have enjoyed the exercise). The nights agenda was designed by @neilusandme and it proved to be nothing short of inspiring.
1. Dining was informal. We made a few dishes. Chicken and plantain lasagna, seared wild alaskan salmon, wagyu beef sliders, mustard and onion chutney potatoes, 4 cheese pastas, a cheese and fruit plate, basic desserts and a red wine sangria.
2. We started the night by playing a quick 3 minute video called, “don’t let your music die in you,” by Wayne Dyer.
3. At Neil’s suggestion, we introduced ourselves and told everyone what we currently (2024) did for a living. We spoke of our hopeful accomplishments as if they had already come to pass. We spoke of plans for marriage, health, travel and fortune; saying things like “about two years ago (2022) my business landed xyz (a major sponsor) which finally made us profitable” or “Joe and I had our second healthy baby boy just last year and I’ve recently returned to work.” We made small talk, congratulating each other on our accomplishments and marvelling at how much our lives had changed. The vibe was so positive!
4. We followed up with, “so what do you think were the three major things that got you to where you are today?”
It was really that simple but the way the night evolved was truly remarkable. At first, we, I especially, struggled to articulate my future with confidence. As the night progressed, and our banter continued we were all speaking very fluidly and matter-of-factly about our lives. It began to feel like it all had truly already happened. It was wonderful and I couldn’t wait to share it with you guys!
I hope it catches on, and if you guys host your own parties please share and use the #amp (Aidan’s Manifestation Party) so I can see what you guys did and the ways you made it better 😁.
What do you guys think of AMP? Is it something you’d do? How would you improve in the concept? Lemme know in the comments!
